Emily Steers is a soprano in the third year of her Bachelor of Music degree at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, studying with Dr. Vicki St. Pierre.

At Mount Allison, she has performed in the Opera Workshop’s scene productions, performing excerpts from Alcina, Iolanthe, and L’incoroazione di Poppea. She recently participated in Opera NUOVA’s 2017 program, appearing as Louise in R&H’s Carousel, Pépik and Kobylka in Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen, and chorus in G&S’sPatience.

This summer she is excited to perform at Halifax Summer Opera Festival and explore her interest in early music, as La Fortuna and Damigella in L’Incoroazione di Poppea. She is also working with Long Reach Opera Workshop in their production of Così fan tutte, singing excerpts as Fiordiligi, as well as singing in the chorus.

Emily comes from a choral background, having been introduced to classical music through the Guelph Youth Singers and church choirs. She has also competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition for the past three years, as well as the Ontario Registered Music Teacher’s Association and Kiwanis festivals.
