Kira Vandermeulen is an expressive and youthful Canadian soprano, born in Red Deer, Alberta. She most recently studied under Dr. Blaine Hendsbee at the University of Lethbridge, where she completed her bachelor of music. Kira very much enjoys the communicative aspect of performance and eagerly seeks opportunities to further develop her dramatic presence and vocal technique. In past years, she has been an active performer in the arts community through both Red Deer and Lethbridge’s Festival of the Performing Arts, as well as through the University of Lethbridge’s opera workshop program. Within this program, Kira has performed roles such as Nora (Riders to the Sea), Molly Brazen (Beggars Opera), as well as Seconda Sorella Cercatrice (Suor Angelica). In the future, Kira hopes to continue her vocal studies at the master’s level.
