American contralto Lisa Gerstenkorn is thrilled to be making her Monteverdi AND Canadian debut as Arnalta in L’incoronazione di Poppea with HSOF!

She was recently seen as Miss Todd in Menotti’s Old Maid and the Thief with the Heartland Opera Theatre in Missouri, and as Deianira in Cavalli’s L’Ercole amante with the Baroque Opera Workshop of Queens in New York. She just completed her eleventh season with the professionalchorus of Tulsa Opera in Oklahoma, where she previously made her solo debut as Sister Lillianne in Jake Heggie'sDeadMan Walking. She also regularly performs with the American Opera Studio under the direction of her voice teacher and mentor, Dr. Bill Hall.

Lisa has performed roles with the Ohio Light Opera, College Light Opera Company in Massachusetts, and Ozark Family Opera Company in Arkansas. She has been a featured soloist with the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra, Mosaic Vocal Ensemble, Southeast Kansas Symphony, and Messiah Festival of the Arts. Additional favorite roles include La Principessa (Suor Angelica), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Little Buttercup (HMS Pinafore), Edith Frank (Yours, Anne), andGlinda (The Wizard of Oz).

Other summer 2018 performance engagements include the role of Anna in Cavalli’s La Didone with the Haymarket Summer Opera Course in Chicago, Illinois, and singing with the Berwick Chorus of the Oregon Bach Festival in both Mendelssohn’s Elijah and the world premiere of Danielpour’s Passion of Yeshua. She currently resides in Southeast Kansas with her extremely supportive husband and their three cats.
