Soprano Olivia MacGowan began her classical music training at age ten, and has been performing in front of audiences since the age of seven. She currently studies voice with Rachel Sunter and performs regularly. Olivia recently received a scholarship towards the Summer Opera Festival and Master Classes included in the program. Olivia participated in the 2017 Halifax summer opera festival last year, performing in the production of B. Britten’s opera, Albert Herring in the role of Cissie. She is ecstatic to be returning to the program to perform in A Midsummer Nights Dream. In addition to performances at HSOF and the included masterclasses, Olivia has performed the roles of Wendy in Peter Pan, and Alice in Alice in Wonderland in school musical productions. She has also participated in ‘Nunsense’, ‘She Loves Me’, and ‘Curtains’. She has participated in Neptunes YPCO camp and also competes in the Kiwanis Music Festival each year. Olivia is entering the tenth grade and hopes to study classical singing and opera in the future. She is looking forward to A Midsummer Nights Dream this season and is excited to continue being inspired by young artists and the teachers who manage the festival!
