2014 Halifax Summer Opera Festival Season

The Halifax Summer Opera Festival’s 10th Season showcases an entertaining mixture of fairy tales and history with a focus on the human reality behind the stories.

Join our talented young performers for 17 performances over four weeks, plus masterclasses and other special events open to the public.

From musical theatre to grand opera, from Baroque to Broadway, HSOF has something for everyone!

MAINSTAGE OPERAS

GIULIO CESARE IN EGITTO  – one of the greatest Baroque operas ever written, accompanied by period orchestra

RUSALKA – hauntingly beautiful music tells the original Slavic fairy tale of the Little Mermaid, in Czech, with projected translations, accompanied by piano

ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD – Offenbach’s most sparkling, satirical operetta presented in English, accompanied by piano

OPERA SCENES PROGRAMME – support these young singers in a charming programme of opera ensembles and solos
