Serena Yeung

Born in Hong Kong, soprano Serena Yeung started her vocal training at an early age in her hometown, under Alex Tam. She just finished her third year of Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Calgary, where she studies with Laura Hynes. Serena was a recipient of RCM Provincial Gold Medal for Grade 9 Voice and the Polyna Savridi Memorial Music Undergraduate Scholarship. She has also been awarded the NATS Songfest competition scholarships for three years consecutively. She recently appeared as debut soloist at Early Music Voices’ Sing Along Messiah.

With a strong passion in operatic repertoires, Serena performed her first opera scenes as Sophie (Werther), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), and Spirit (Die Zauberflöte). In 2016 and 2018, she also performed with Opera Hong Kong as a chorus member in their production of Madama Butterfly and Die Zauberflöte.

She recently got recommended to represent Calgary at the Provincial Music Festival in Edmonton.
