At Western, she covered the role of Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Recently, Skylar performed the role of Donna Elvira in Halifax Summer Opera Festival’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Opera Canada commended her as a “persistent Elvira, successfully conveying a range of changing emotions in a demanding role”. She performed the title role in Mount Allison Opera Workshop’s production of Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon and was a featured soloist in Mt. A Choral Society’s performance of Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn. In the past, Skylar performed the roles of Sister Dolcina in Puccini’s Suor Angelica at the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy and Venere in Cavalli’s L’Egisto at HSOF. Skylar has also performed in scenes from Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Gluck’s Paride ed Elena, and Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea. In the coming season, Skylar will sing Sandrina in La finta giardiniera at Western, and First Lady in Die Zauberflöte at HSOF. Skylar has competed twice at the National Music Festival, has won first and second place for Senior Voice at the National Association of Teachers Songfest, and second place in Voice at the ENKOR International Music Competition.
