Artist Name: Adam Arnold
Voice type: baritone
Role you’re singing this year: Harry Easter in Street Scene
Where are you from? How did you first get interested in opera or musical theatre?
I’m from Edmonton, AB and sorta fell into opera via singing in community choirs.
When did you start studying voice? Where are you studying now?
I started studying voice in 2006 and currently study with Elizabeth Raycroft at the Alberta College Conservatory of Music.
What came first for you, theatre or music?
Definitely the music.
What are your dream roles?
Too many to mention! I’ll list the top 3:
1) Duke Bluebeard from Bluebeards Castle (Bartok)
2) Don Giovanni from Don Giovanni (Mozart)
3) the Dutchman from The Flying Dutchman (Wagner)
Who are your favourite performing artists?
What are you most looking forward to about this summer?
This summer is going to be quite the adventure. Not only do I get to participate in HSOF, but I’m also performing the role of Silvano in La Calisto by Francesco Cavalli at the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy. I feel so privileged to be able to take part in two amazing training programs and it’s going to be interesting to perform two operas, back to back, and have a 180 degree change since Street Scene was written 300 years after Calisto.
Thanks, Adam! Are you a participant or staff member this year? Why not submit your own answers to our questionnaire!
